Opportunities
We are always excited to meet talented students, collaborators, and visiting researchers who share our passion for exploring the intersection of technology, gender, and security:
PhD Opportunities
We invite aspiring PhD students to apply for opportunities to join our team. You will be expected to pioneer original research and use your time with us to develop an independent research profile. Collaboration on ongoing projects is strongly encouraged, fostering connections with colleagues within and beyond the Lab. Visit the UCL Computer Science webpage to learn more about upcoming PhD opportunities, such as the forthcoming UCL EPSRC DTP 2025/26 Studentship “Towards Safer Online Spaces: Leveraging NLP and User-Centred Design to Combat Technology-Facilitated Intimate Partner Abuse”.
Research Assistant & Postdoctoral Roles
Our Research Assistant and Postdoctoral roles are integral to the Lab’s success. As a Research Assistant, you will actively support and drive research projects forward, contributing to developing key findings and outputs. Postdoctoral researchers will be expected to take on a far more advanced leadership role, initiating, managing and steering projects, mentoring junior colleagues, and driving publications in high-impact venues. These positions are advertised through Unitemps (Research Assistant) and Work at UCL (Postdoctoral roles).
Visiting Scholars
We welcome visiting researchers eager to collaborate on studies that push the boundaries of technology, cybersecurity and gender research. As a visiting scholar, you will be expected to participate in our ongoing work through specific activities, such as co-authoring research papers, leading independent projects, or developing new initiatives. We value clear, actionable contributions that progress our research agenda and uphold our core values. If your research aspirations align with ours, please contact us via email to explore potential opportunities.
Our Core Values
At the Gender and Tech Lab, we set high standards for ourselves and each other. Every team member is expected to pursue impactful research, and we strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive. While we take our work extremely seriously, we also believe in fostering a supportive, respectful, and inclusive space where teamwork is at the core of everything we do. We are committed to the principles of competence, care, and collaboration and uphold a culture of candid communication, transparency, and constructive feedback. We encourage members to uplift and support one another and are driven by a shared mission: to advance research that makes a tangible difference in the fight against tech abuse and the broader societal challenges posed by digital technologies.
